My everyday make up is very straight forward and ideal for if you're in a hurry. This is my go to look for when I'm going to work or running late for uni after a night out. Although it's really quick and easy I think it's really effective.
After watching many make up tutorials on youtube and seeing other people's everyday makeup I constantly tried to recreate what they did. Always spending ages trying to get that flawless foundation finish and use the smallest amount of blusher/bronzer and mascara possible like they did but still not looking anywhere near as good as they did I eventually gave up. To be honest it always looked like I might as well have not bothered.
I think the main issue was that I have very small eyes so just wearing mascara never really worked. I also have an ongoing battle with my eyelashes, they don't stay curled regardless of how much I curl them or the mascara that I use so when it comes to just wearing mascara my makeup never looked very finished.
So, after having decided that the minimal make up thing didn't work that well on me I decided to just begin to play around with some different ways of still looking natural but just adding that little extra to my eyes.
The first thing I do is always cleanse and moisturise my face.
I then take my MUA Pro Base Prime and Conceal in yellow. I apply this under my eyes, this just helps to reduce those dreaded dark circles. It works by brightening up any purple tones.
After having put this under my eyes I take my Maybelline Super Stay 24 hour foundation in the colour 03 True Ivory. I believe this is palest shade that they do which I tend to use all year round but as we approach summer I will begin to mix this with a darker shade. I put this all over my face making sure I go down my neck so I don't get any lines. I used to apply my foundation with a buffing brush but recently have just been using my hands gently working this into the skin as I find it gives a much better coverage.
The eyeshadow that I use is the Make Up Revolution Mono Eyeshadow in Delicious. This is the shade that I use not only on my eyelids but also on my eyebrows. When applying this be prepared for it to fall all down your face and don't be alarmed as you can buff it away later. I apply this generously all over my lids taking it further to the outside corner of my eye. I almost create a flick with it just to make your eyes look bigger than they actually are. Once you've got it as even as you can and got it as dark as you want it I then take a smaller brush and just bring it down under my eyes in the bottom lash line. This works especially well if you have green or blue eyes as it really makes them shine and look ten times brighter than they are. You may find that you need to blend this a little bit as you don't want to look like you've been punched in the eye and we still want to keep it fairly natural and give an effortless feel.
When it comes to your eyebrows my biggest tip would be a little goes a LONG way. I did learn this the hard way. I'm all for a strong brow but I went way too overboard a couple of times. I always do the eyebrows next when doing this look as I use the same colour on my eyes and brows. I take a really small angled brow brush. You can use a bigger brush but if you want to create a natural eyebrow it's better to use a smaller brush as you can recreate the hairs and gently build them up.
Once i've finished with the eyeshadow and have done my lids and brows I then buff off the excess on my face and take the MUA Cover and Conceal Concealer in the colour Fair. I apply this under my eyes, on my t-zone and on any blemishes that I have or areas that are red and also on my brow bone. By putting it on your brow bone it makes your eyebrows look more defined. I blend this in gently with a sponge as I don't want to wipe away any of my foundation.
After all the concealer is blended in I then curl my eyelashes (don't really know why I bother as it never works on me). The mascara that I use is the Maybelline Lash Sensational Intense Black. I have only recently got this one, I normally use the normal Lash Sensational which I have to say I much prefer. The ultra black is much thicker so it's much easier for it to look clumpy and messy. So I would recommend the normal Lash Sensational which I will be going back to. I've used so many mascara's and this is the only one that helps with my eyelashes being so straight. Although I still don't have really curly eyelashes this is the best one yet.
I then take the Make Up Revolution Bronzer in Bronzer Kiss. I really like this bronzer as it's matte and I like this for the more wintery look but as we've been having some warmer weather I might start to use my more shimmery bronzer which is the Make Up Revolution Vivid Baked Bronzer in Ready To Go. I apply this on my cheek bones adding a bit at a time, I then take it on my forehead and around my jawline and down my neck. I don't really need to take it onto my forehead as I have a fringe but I do it anyway.
Now I'm looking all healthy and bronzed I like to finish the sun kissed look by using the MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter in Iridescent Gold. I apply this just above my check bones, on my brow bone, down my nose and on my cupids bow. I also sometimes put this on the inside corners of my eyes just for a more glowy effect.
To make my makeup last as long as possible I then apply the Rimmel Clear Complexion Powder In 021 Transparent. I only apply this on my t-zone as this is naturally where you get more oily and shinny. This just helps to stop your make up sliding off your face and last as long as possible. I really like this powder as it's not too heavy and just takes away the the shine slightly.
For the final step I apply lipstick. I find that pretty much any shade goes with this look but for day-to-day I like to keep it fairly natural. A lipstick I was very pleasantly surprised by was the Primark Long Lasting Matte collection. I didn't have very high hopes for this due to it only costing £1.50 but oh my gosh it's amazing. I find it really long lasting and it smells amazing. I like to use the shade Whisper. I think it's just a really wearable colour.
Doing this make up look takes me about 10/15 mins max which I think is ideal for if time isn't in your favour.
I hope you enjoy giving this a go!
Lots of Love, Becky xox
