5 MAKEUP PRODUCTS TO GET ME THROUGH WINTER

Finally it's December! My favourite time of the year, not only because of Christmas but for the makeup. It's acceptable to go all out with the glitter, wear a darker lip and make that winged liner just that little bit more winged.

Having a good foundation for winter I think is essential. In summer I feel like I can get away with only wearing BB creams and concealers but as the weather gets colder I like to have the maximum amount of coverage. My favourite foundation of all time is the Estee Lauder Double Wear. This is THE best foundation I have ever used. I don't think you can get any better coverage than this. I honestly wouldn't go back to using any other foundation after using this. The main reason I love it so much is that however bad my skin is, I can trust that after putting this foundation on I will feel so much more confident with my skin. It somehow makes my skin look flawless by using the smallest amount of product. Leading me onto the next thing I love about it is how long lasting it is, not only on your skin but the product itself. I have had the same bottle since summer and it's still got about a third left. I'd like to now tell you its only a tenner but unfortunately it is a little bit more pricey than your usual drugstore foundation. In Boots it's £31which is a pretty big up front cost, however, considering I still have loads  left from summer and how much more confident it makes me feel with my skin, I don't think you can really put a price on it. I wear it in the colour Fresco which is a little bit too dark but I'm determined to use the bottle up before buying a new one! Even though I love winter, I'm holding onto that summer glow whether I want to or not!!

It would not be Christmas time without a glittery eyeshadow. I have been looking for a really pigmented gold shadow for so long now and I finally found one. An added bonus is that it's only £1. I honestly don't understand how MUA does it. I have loads of gold eyeshadows from loads of different brands. Estee Lauder, Maybelline, Rimmel, Urban Decay and honestly, they do not even compare to the MUA one. The swatch on my hand was done only using one finger. It is incredible. I would recommend MUA to everyone and I honestly think that some of those high end brands need to watch out because I don't think I've ever been disappointed with an MUA product. The shade is copper (but it's gold)

NYX is a brand that I've only ever really bought lipsticks from and I hadn't really considered buying much else. However, now there is a NYX counter in the Boots in Birmimgham I have the opportunity to see more of their products. Using my Boots points I decided to try one of their Hot Singles eyeshadows in the colour Flustered. I have to admit, these red/pink sort of tones I tend to avoid. They normally make my eyes look sore, red and puffy. This colour though I felt was a little different. It's almost a browny red. I wear brown eyeshadow everyday in the crease of my lids so by adding this shade just below my crease and a tiny bit of the MUA gold, it creates the PERFECT wintery/festive eyeshadow look.  I never thought I'd purchase a colour like this but I think I finally found the perfect red for me. It has a tiny bit of shine to it too which works really well with the matte brown crease and the gold glitter. They have a million different shades in the Hot Singles range and again priced at only £3.50 you can't go too far wrong I don't think!

The festive period would not be the festive period without a winged liner. I tend to wear eyeliner everyday but this time of year you can afford to go that little bit further with it I think. I take every opportunity that I get to get dolled up and with Christmas coming, every day is an exception! I spent years trying to find an eyeliner I could trust and rely on when I'm in a rush or running late to uni. The MUA Eye Define Felt Liner is for sure the one. I have pretty sensitive eyes so I get really worried about putting cheaper makeup around my eyes but with MUA I have no problems at all. This eyeliner is super long lasting not only on your eyes but I've been using the same one for about 2/3 months and it still not drying out. It's almost laughable to say it's only £2 (but even less with student discount in Superdrug with NUS). The end is still nice and pointy too, but not too pointy that it could poke your eye out. I'm also really happy to tell you that it is so black. I love it, I love it, I love it! I actually get so excited writing about MUA because I just think it's so good and not sure you can beat it!

I seem to have a little bit of a theme going here... Sorry that 3/5 of the products are MUA but I honestly use these products pretty much everyday this time of the year and wouldn't want to recommend something that I don't love myself! The last product had to be a lip product. I'm pretty sure I've written about these before but I don't think they get enough credit! The Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer range is out of this world. They are all so good. This time of year I wear Reckless which is as red as red can be and also Dash which is what I have picked for my top 5. I have a couple of NYX matte lip products but I have to say they aren't as good and as long lasting as these. They are so matte but not drying which is amazing. I don't feel like I've got anything on my lips when I wear these. I wore Tranquility pretty much everyday throughout summer but now we are in winter and approaching Christmas my go-to lip product has to be Dash (and Reckless but couldn't pick 2). It's just the perfect berry tone. It's almost got a tiny brown undertone. Although it's fairly bold I think it's really wearable for everyday and it is definitely very on trend at the moment. Amazingly only £3 too!

I hope that I have helped/inspired you with your makeup this winter ready for Christmas!
